July 29, 2009 and we finally have our counter tops installed, our sink is turned back on and we have a functioning kitchen again. So let me give you some background information on this renovation… May 30th (I believe) I got myself into a large scale kitchen renovation, demo, minor framing, all new electric and plumbing, fresh drywall, new cabinets from Lowes, Granite countertops, ceramic floors and all new appliances from Best Buy (which is the best place to get your appliances by the way). Seems like a lot right, well you are damn right… what was I thinking?
Well to be honest, I enjoy doing home renovations and I have a great father, father-in-law and brother-in-law who came into town to help with some of the more frustrating aspects of the renovation. Don’t get me wrong, this has been an incredible process and I have learned a plethora of information, I just could not wait to have a kitchen again. After 2 plus months of washing dishes in your basement and bathroom, I’m ready to set the dishwasher on some serious un-payed overtime. I still have some minor things to finish, but for the most part we are back up and running… time for my lovely wife to make some lovely meals!
At this point I can imagine you are thinking, well what about some step-by-step pictures, how about some great tips from the do-it-yourself homeowner, photos of the demo, what about the before shots? First blog here folks, cut me a break. The best I can do for you is send you to flickr at the moment and let you peruse through the Renovation images. I will mostlikely comment on the renovation in detail with future posts, and I can’t imagine that this is the only thing on the honey-do list…
I have to agree that Best Buy is definatly the best place for purchasing your appliances with a great selection of quality items, not to mention you can get some great deals on premium HDTVs and equipment as well!
As far as the kitchen… amazing job! Well done if I do say so myself. It looks very elegant!
